As a major sponsor of the Moran Prizes, the Moran Health Care Group would like to extend an invitation to enter the 2018 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize. Entries for the Prize are now open and the Moran Arts Foundation is inviting photographers from across the country to enter the prestigious competition.
First Prize: $50,000
Total prize money: $100,000
Closing date for entries: Wednesday 7 March 2018
The Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize has prize money of $100,000, including a $50,000 first prize. The Moran Arts Foundation invites photographers to interpret ‘Contemporary Life in Australia’ with an emphasis on Australians going about their day-to-day life. Entries should be photographs taken in Australia, by Australians and should reflect the diversity, multiculturalism and uniqueness of Australian life.
The Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize (MCPP) was established in 2007 by the Moran Arts Foundation and it awards and promotes Australian contemporary photography and excellence in all forms of still, photo based artwork – including analogue and digital photography or staged and directorial photo-media work. As part of their commitment to the arts, The Moran Arts Foundation host free photography workshops in schools throughout the country each year. The MCPP, also includes categories for school students and entries for the Student Competition are also now open.
The Moran Arts Foundation is delighted that Cheryl Newman and Jon Jones are returning to judge the 2018 MCPP. Cheryl Newman is a respected international photographer and curator and Jon Jones is a celebrated international photojournalist and photo editor.
Entries for the 2018 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize close at midnight on Wednesday 7 March and the winner will be announced on Thursday 3 May at Juniper Hall in Paddington. The Moran Contemporary Photographic Exhibition opens on 4 May and runs until 27 May.
