Moran Health Care Group is proud to support the Sutherland Shire Literary Competition, a new competition celebrating the joy of writing in the Sutherland Shire. Submissions are sought for Traditional Rhyming Verse, Free Verse or Short Stories with prizes of up to $1000 in each category.

The inaugural Sutherland Shire Literary Competition is set to celebrate the exciting breadth of literary talent that exists not only across the Sutherland Shire but the whole of our nation.  The new competition aims to promote the rich cultural heritage of the Sutherland Shire whilst contributing to the diverse and rich tradition of literary practice in Australia.

Australian residents over 18 years of age are invited to submit original works in the following categories:

  • Traditional (rhyming) verse (max. 80 lines)
  • Free verse (max. 80 lines)
  • Short stories (max. 2000 words)

First place in each category will receive $1,000, with other generous prizes on offer.  An additional ‘Shire Resident’s Prize’ may also be awarded to recognise the best local talent in those three categories.  The entry period is from 5 Feb to 30 April 2018, so sharpen up your pencil and let your talents be known!
