The ABC TV’s Four Corners will be airing a two part series focusing on aged care in Australia in the coming weeks.
To give you a bit of background, in Australia there are 1.3 million people receiving care services from around 430,000 staff and volunteers. The overwhelming majority of people receive a very good standard of care. This is supported by the findings of the independent Carnell Paterson Report into aged care quality in 2017.
Whilst Moran Aged Care has not viewed the content of the program, we understand that that some of the issues raised by Four Corners might be upsetting for some people and we encourage you to contact us, or members of your care team, if you or your loved ones require any additional support or information.
At Moran Aged Care we believe that every older person who needs care and support in a residential aged care facility, and their families, should expect high standards of care, safety and service, delivered with empathy and professionalism.
We are committed to openness and transparency in relation to the quality of care we provide. We believe that everyone in our industry must be accountable and committed to continuous improvement and we welcome ongoing reforms that will make our industry better, more person-centered, and that build the capacity of our dedicated staff.
As you may be aware, our industry is not as well funded by the Federal Government as it should be. This media coverage will be an opportunity to highlight the additional funding and reform the aged care sector needs to deliver the quality of care that you, your families, and the growing numbers of older Australians need and deserve.
Once again, I assure you of the commitment of the entire Moran Aged Care team to delivering the highest quality care possible for you and your loved ones.
We invite you to contact your aged care home directly if you have any concerns or would like to discuss this matter further.
