COVID-19, Moran NSW Homes updated visitor restrictions – 8/1/2021

NSW Health has released updated COVID-19 advice for residential aged care providers.  You can read the full notice here

Until further notice all residential aged care facilities must:

  • ensure all staff and visitors wear a surgical mask within the facility
  • ensure residents have a maximum of only two visitors each day. They may have different visitors each day
  • exclude visitors from the Northern Area of the Northern Beaches, City of Wollongong, Cumberland City Council or Canterbury Ward of Canterbury Bankstown Council.  The following postcodes are affected:
    • 2101, 2102, 2103, 2104, 2105, 2106, 2107, 2108, 2133, 2191, 2193, 2194, 2206, 2500, 2502, 2505, 2506, 2508, 2515, 2516, 2517, 2518, 2519, 2522, 2525, 2526, 2527, 2528, 2529, 2530, 2533, 2534
  • exclude staff and visitors who:
    • live in a household with a person who is currently self-isolating
    • have been to any of the latest COVID-19 locations in NSW at the times and dates listed, excluding the monitor for symptoms list
    • have a fever (37. 5°C or higher) or symptoms of COVID-19 (acute blocked nose congestion has been added to the list of symptoms)
    • are a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case and are within their self-isolation period

In addition, due to a positive confirmed case of the UK strain of COVID-19 in a member of staff of a QLD quarantine hotel, any visitor to the following areas on or after 2/1/2021 are not permitted to enter NSW aged care homes until 12/1/2021; City of Brisbane, City of Ipswich, Lockyer Valley Region, Logan City, Moreton Bay Region, Redland City, Scenic Rim Region, Somerset Region.

Prior to any visit please visit the NSW Health COVID-19 website to identify areas of active community transmission you may have been exposed to BEFORE you leave home and do not visit if you have been exposed. You will be asked to confirm you have checked this information as part of the pre-entry screening process.

For all visits

  • Please do not visit if you are unwell – no matter what your symptoms are
  • Visit during specified hours so we can make sure the screening process is complete
  • Allow time for QR Code screening an arrival – electronic records are required to be available for the NSW Health contact tracing if required
  • You must QR Code on entry and exit – the duration of your visit is an important piece of information required by NSW Health Contact Tracers
  • You must follow hand hygiene, wear a mask and stay in your loved one’s room for the entire visit duration
  • If you wish to discuss clinical matters with the RN, please telephone outside of your visit as you cannot stand at the nurse station as this is a common area of the home.
  • Please bring your drivers licence with you as evidence of where you live as many areas are excluded

Visiting Hours, until further notice

  • Mon to Friday 9am to 5pm
  • Sat 9am to 1pm (alternate Saturdays, Moran Sylvania)
  • Sun closed

If your loved one is nearing end of life or is distressed, please contact the General Manager to make special arrangements for visitation.

Resident Outings

Residents are not prevented from leaving a Moran Home however, we request that you discuss any planned outings with the General Manager in advance as we will ask you to complete a risk identification questionnaire to help us work with you to keep your loved one safe.  For all outings, the NSW Health Orders in relation to hand hygiene, gathering numbers, masks, venues and social distancing etc need to be followed. We may need your loved one to self-isolate on their return for 14 days, depending on the circumstances of the outing.

We urge you to consider if your visit is necessary – please consider your own movements within the community and your compliance with the NSW Health Orders in relation to wearing of masks, social distancing and gathering limits before deciding to visit.  All these measures are in place to protect the broader community from transmitting COVID-19 and we need your support to work with us to keep COVID-19 out of our homes.
