COVID-19 vaccine update – 17/2/2021

Residential aged care workers and residents will be among the first people who can choose to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the first roll-out phase (Phase 1a) which is expected to commence from late-February 2021.

Vaccination is not mandatory; residents have a choice.  A valid vaccination consent form MUST be completed to allow the vaccination to be given. We will facilitate the completion of the consent form with those residents that can complete the consent form. For those residents who are unable to complete the consent form independently, we ask that their enduring guardian completes the consent on their behalf.

Printed copies of the COVID-19 Vaccination Consent form are available at Moran Reception or can be downloaded from the link HERE.

The consent form includes a series of questions on page 2 that will be checked by the person administering the vaccine just prior to vaccination. The RN on duty will assist residents with this part of the vaccination process at the time of vaccination.

A COVID-19 vaccine is just one part of keeping our community safe and healthy. It is important for everyone to continue and maintain COVIDSafe practises, such as hand hygiene, physical distancing and wearing masks when required, particularly in residential aged care facilities.
