Lynn Hewitt is a true ambassador of quilting and her latest exhibition at Moran Gallery Sylvania reflects both her passion for the craft and outstanding flair. As an award-winning craftsperson, she continues to learn, whilst also being known as a skilled teacher, mentor and judge.
Lynn Hewitt is renowned for the encouragement and support she gives to quilters both new and experienced to achieve their goals. At the Australasian Quilt Convention in 2017, Lynn was announced as the 13th recipient of the Rajah Award. The Award is a tribute to the historic Rajah Quilt made by convict women en-route to Australia in 1841 and acknowledges outstanding contribution to quilting in Australia. An accredited teacher with QuiltNSW, Lynn has taught patchwork and quilting for 28 years; having started making quilts two years before that. Over this time, Lynn has taught at local patchwork shops, quilting retreats and workshops. Lynn Hewitt has been judging quilt shows since 1999 during her time as President of QuiltNSW. Since then, Lynn has judged at 35 quilt shows including major quilt shows in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Darwin. Lynn’s approach to quilt judging is one of total generosity, continually learning and sharing techniques.
Lynn Hewitt’s exhibition was officially opened by Robert James at the Moran Gallery Sylvania. The exhibition will be open to the public from 12 February to 5 April, 10am to 4pm daily with free entry.
