Senior Educator – Aged Care

About the opportunityThe Senior Educator is a valued and essential part of the leadership team together with the Clinical Governance Leader, Care Manager, Quality Coordinator, Chef Manager and Accommodation Services Manager. The Senior Educator has a large component of training and skill material development within their portfolio however a pivotal part of the role requires regular interaction with management of Homes and employees to support and implement related training to ensure standards are met and maintained.The Senior Educator reports to the Clinical Governance Leader (CGL) with a matrix reporting line to the GM of the service location. The Senior Educator works closely with the CGL, GM, CM and Quality Coordinator, designing and having oversight of any capability or learning programs and ensuring all mandatory requirements are met across the homes. Where there are programs of detailed work the Senior Educator will be responsible in coordinating and implementing these across the homes to ensure consistency and effective change or improvement in resident care and services is achieved. The Senior Educator also needs to ensure that safe, effective and quality care is provided consistent with the Moran Health Care Group (MHCG) mission, vision and values. Responsibilities:Coordination of scheduled comprehensive training needs analysis in consultation with the CGL, GM, CM and Leadership team in accordance with MHCG policies and procedures.Consultation with employees who have roles as leaders and coaches about practices to engage and encourage learning within the home environmentWork with employees responsible for leadership or education within MH services to support coaching and improving staff capabilitiesEngage with employees where required one on one or groups where there are identified needs, i.e. to support other employees responsible for trainingSupervise and assess clinical leadership and coaching skills for employees. Act as a role model, coach and mentor to employees to maintain a high standard of personal professional practice. Act as a mentor to employees who are leaders and assist them to learn and apply skills in the workplace. Apply adult education techniques that will promote meaningful learning, increased self-esteem, communication and teamwork. The successful applicant will meet the following requirements:Registered Nurse Division 1  – Current unrestricted registration with AHPRACertificate 4 in Workplace Assessment and Training or working towardsExtensive experience developing and implementing training and education material/packages within an aged care environment using adult learning principlesAbility to analytically understand training needs and translate to comprehensive education and training programs with indicator to measure effectivenessExperience coaching and mentoring senior clinical staff including leadership developmentDemonstrated clinical skills and experienceExcellent and demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to provide clinical and general education as requiredWell-developed and demonstrated understanding of systems and processesWell developed problem solving and time management skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and within a teamKnowledge and ability to use computers and technology efficientlyWHS knowledge and skills suitable for the positionCurrent Police CheckAppropriate Working Rights Moran Aged Care combines over sixty years’ experience and innovation to create the best possible aged care environments for our residents.   • Act as a mentor to employees who are leaders and assist them to learn and apply skills in the workplace.
  • Apply adult education techniques that will promote meaningful learning, increased self-esteem, communication and teamwork.

 

The successful applicant will meet the following requirements:

  • Registered Nurse Division 1  – Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA
  • Certificate 4 in Workplace Assessment and Training or working towards
  • Extensive experience developing and implementing training and education material/packages within an aged care environment using adult learning principles
  • Ability to analytically understand training needs and translate to comprehensive education and training programs with indicator to measure effectiveness
  • Experience coaching and mentoring senior clinical staff including leadership development
  • Demonstrated clinical skills and experience
  • Excellent and demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to provide clinical and general education as required
  • Well-developed and demonstrated understanding of systems and processes
  • Well developed problem solving and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team
  • Knowledge and ability to use computers and technology efficiently
  • WHS knowledge and skills suitable for the position
  • Current Police Check
