With a thriving Men’s Group at Moran Kellyville and the support of regular volunteers who visit the Home, the Grand Moran Car Show was a huge hit! The Show was supported by regular volunteer Chris Hebbard and his car loving friends who brought a selection of much loved automobiles to Moran Kellyville including:
1932 Chevrolet Coupe
2024 Mazda MX5 Convertible sports car
1950’s black Holden FJ Sedan
1990’s Scania Fire Truck
1991 Nissan 300zx sports car
1966 Rambler Classic 770 sedan
1961 VW Kombi ‘split window’ UTE
1979 Honda Civic ( original)
Early 1960’s VW Karmann Ghia sports car ( just totally restored)
The Moran Kellyville intergenerational program also benefited from the Car Show as children from neighbouring Discover My World Early Learning Centre, climbed aboard the Fire Truck and marveled at the cars alongside their Moran ‘Nans and Pops’.
Seeing the automobiles helped our residents to reminisce. Reflecting on the past stimulated their memories and triggered many positive emotions. Importantly, reminiscing fostered social connections between the residents, carers, volunteers and children from Discover My World. Like the cars that were on show, seeing the residents bond over shared interests, was priceless.
