We cater for all sorts of aged care needs at Moran Kellyville. Just before Christmas we were able to support 85 year old Billie McDonald and her family. Billie lives in a retirement village in Northmead, she drives and lives independently however, in December she tripped, took a tumble, broke her arm and fractured her T12. Westmead hospital told her she would need 6-9 weeks respite care to enable her to recover, then rehab and then she would hopefully be able to return home. They relocated her to the Auburn Hospital Temporary Stay Unit until respite care could be found.
Billies daughter and granddaughters live in the Hills District and were keen to find their mum/grandmother some care near their homes so that they could visit often and assist Billie with her recovery. They wrote a list of what they were looking for in an aged care facility and narrowed their search down to 3 potential homes.
Said Billie’s daughter Shirley “trying to find respite care for mum just before Christmas was a bit tricky, Moran Kellyville ticked all of the boxes for mum and we knew as soon as we arrived that this was the right place for her. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble or a burden for them. Getting Mum respite care was very quick and efficient, once we found the right place. We visited Moran Kellyville on Tuesday and mum moved in 2 days later! Some of the homes we visited were either very clinical, didn’t smell very nice or didn’t have access to the outdoors. Moran Kellyville is brand new, it looks and smells lovely but feels homely and friendly – Mum’s room is gorgeous”.
The team at Moran encouraged Shirley and her daughter to decorate the room with some of Billies personal items. Billie said “When I walked through the door of my room it felt like home. Having my pictures and bits and pieces there when I arrived was very reassuring”.
Shirley and her daughter are enjoying having their mum/grandmother close by and the flexibility of being able to pop in whenever they like for a cuppa and a chat.
Moran Kellyville offers permanent, respite and specialist dementia care, we have rooms available now and would love to show you around. Respite care is a great way of finding out if Aged Care is for you and for giving primary carers a break. If you would like to know more contact Kiana on 02 9881 4222
